Tata Nano is soon going to be Bejeweled!

The makers of Jaguar give an interesting addition to the list of art cars. They have bejeweled one of their cars, Tata Nano that is supposed to be the cheapest car in the world. This unique dazzling Tata Nano is a result of their public relations campaign to gather. Thirteen proposals were submitted of which this one is of the winners.

The custom design will be brought to reality by Titan Industries ( one of the subsidiary companies of Tata) as a way of commemorating 5000 years of Indian Jewelry.

Bulgari celebrates 125th Anniversary in Paris

The famous designer house Bulgari celebrates its 125th Anniversary in Paris and with that exhibits over 600 of of its unique jewels at the Grand Palais.. The exhibition also displayed gems of the biggies like Liz Taylor, Ingrid Bergman and Sophia Loren.

Prince William and Kate Middleton Engagement Update

One cannot help but keep on talking about this historical wedding of Prince William with Kate Middleton that is to take place in the coming April and here another developed that will surely put this event on the pages of history.

The official design of the coin that shall mark the engagement of Prince Harry to Kate Middleton was unveiled on Thursday.

The image of the couple and especially of the royal bride to be has raised eyebrows world over as many feel that the Kate’s face looks quite different in the coin.

But none of it matters now, as the design has been approved by the couple and Prince William’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth II.

A spokesman for the Mint said that it is always challenging to engrave profile and features onto something as small as a coin, particularly the features of young people.

How much do you know about December Birthstone – Tanzanite

One of the most popular blue gemstones - Tanzanite a.k.a. December Birthstone has quite an interesting story to it.

Tanzanite is relatively a young member of the gemstone family. While most of the gems that we know of have been known for some thousands of years, tanzanites were only found in the year 1967, This even led many specialists to refer to this stone as the ‘gemstone of 20th Century’. The gem was discovered by a bunch of Masai shepherds in the Merelani Hills near Arusha in the east African state of Tanzania. Till date Tanzania remains the only place where this gem is mined, this also makes Tanzanite a highly rare gemstone; even rarer  than diamonds. Their rarity, beauty and inimitable hue makes these gemstone highly coveted and also one of the most prized ones. What is very intriguing about Tanzanite is that – in their natural form they do not occur as the beautiful violet blued gems that we know them as, but rather as not so attractive dark blue crystals. It is upon heating that the gems get their mystifying color. And perhaps this could be a reason why these gems were discovered only recently.

World’s largest cut or faceted tanzanite is a huge 737.81 carats rock. Another famous tanzanite is 242 carats which is set in Queen of Kilimanjaro’s Tiara.

I was somewhere reading about Birthstone Jewelry and that it has become quite popular concept these days. So many people these days are gifting birthstone jewelry to their friends and family on special occasions.

So I decided to research a bit on Birthstones. I always thought that birthstones and birthstone jewelry were relatively new concept, more like a marketing strategy. But then I found that their birthstones and their history actually go more than few century back.
For thousands of years birthstones have been coveted for their influential powers and the ability to bless and protect its wearer. However, various cultures had a different list of birthstones and they also had a different ways of defining a birthstone.
Finally in the year 1912, Jewelers of America created a standard list of birthstones that they named as the list of  Modern birthstones. And, that is how the current birthstones list that we hear about often came into existence.
 
Personally, I don’t know which stand to take. How much do these birthstones actually influence its wearer. I have heard of many stories from people where they said that since they started wearing their birthstone, they life has changed and that too for good.
I have never tried it myself  so can’t really say. But then come to think of it again, till the time you feel even a bit that the birthstone will have positive affect on your life. Then you should go for it. After all, isn’t it just the way you look at it.

Angelina Jolie’s Jewelry Collection to help the Children of Conflict

Can we ever have enough of Angelina Jolie. Probably not! The actress is just all over making waves with her appearances, but more than anything else I really appreciate her for the way she has been actively working for various causes.

This time the celebrity has collaborated with her friend and former CEO of Asprey, Robert Procop to launch a Jewelry Collection. The benefits of its shall go for her personal Charity, that is The Education Partnership for the Children of Conflict.

The Jewelry Collection also has a 353 carat pale green hued Beryl pendant crafted in rose gold.

Procop said that the designs in this collection are inspired by ‘ancient tablet engravings’.

Sadly Jolie’s fans would not have easy access to this collection. Each of these jewelry pieces in this collection will only be sold through Procop’s network of clients.
